All in all...

This turtle's name is Isabella, she is 35 years old and on the beach to lay her eggs. We found out htere are about 24 turtles using this beach now for laying eggs. There are experts on hand watching and protecting them. It is so fascinating! Kenzie got as close as they would allow us to get for the picture.

This has been a great experience, though not quite how we thought it would be. We spent the first week here trying to find a car, get registered for school, shaving off the goatie (yikes!) and, well, just trying to settle in to our new home here in Hawaii. We have been here over a month now, and we still feel like we are getting settled. It is amazing that the beach is just 2 blocks away. We have been able to watch the whales play in the distnace, the biggest sea turtle we have ever seen taking a nap on the beach, and Jen and Kenzie saw a pregnant seal kickin' it on the shore.
We will continue to share the experiences and pictures as we go on.
